1. Introduction
FOIL Calculator ("we," "us," or "our") operates foilcalculator.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the Service, how it is used - including by our advertising partners - and the choices and rights you have.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Contact form submissions - If you use our contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message you choose to send. We use it only to respond to you.
Information Collected Automatically
- Advertising data - Google and its advertising partners may collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and cookie or advertising identifiers when ads are shown. See Advertising below.
- Server logs - Our hosting provider records standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, and requested page) to deliver and secure the website.
- Cookies and similar technologies - See section 3 and our Cookies Policy.
Information We Do Not Collect
- No account required - You do not need to register or sign in to use any calculator.
- Calculations stay on your device - Expressions you enter and their results are processed entirely in your browser. They are never sent to our servers.
3. Cookies and Local Storage
We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies for three purposes:
- Essential - remembering your consent choices and language preference.
- Advertising - Google AdSense and its partners use cookies to serve, personalize, limit, and measure ads.
- Analytics - we do not currently use analytics cookies. If we add them, we will update this policy and ask for consent where required.
Full details, including how to change your choices, are in our Cookies Policy.
4. Advertising
The Service is free and is supported by ads served through Google AdSense.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies, web beacons, and your IP address to measure ad performance, limit how often you see an ad, and detect fraud.
You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time:
- Visit Google's Ads Settings.
- Opt out of personalized ads from many third-party vendors at www.aboutads.info.
- In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, use the Privacy settings link in our footer to review or withdraw your consent.
If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized based on your browsing. To learn more, read How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
5. How We Use Information
- Responding to contact form messages
- Operating, securing, and improving the website
- Remembering your language and consent preferences
- Showing ads through Google AdSense, which funds the free Service
We do not sell your contact form information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
6. Third-Party Services
- Google AdSense - Serves ads and, with your consent where required, uses cookies for personalization and measurement. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- Formspree - Processes contact form submissions on our behalf, as described in Formspree's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts - Loads the Inter and JetBrains Mono typefaces. Google may receive technical data such as your IP address, as described in its privacy policy.
- Vercel - Hosts the website and may keep standard server logs, including IP addresses, as described in its privacy policy.
7. Your Rights in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process personal data on these legal bases:
- Consent - for advertising and any non-essential cookies. Google's consent message asks for your choice before these are used, and you can change it at any time through Privacy settings in the footer.
- Legitimate interests - for keeping the website secure and working, and for replying to messages you send us.
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase your data
- Object to or restrict processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that happened before
- Data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
For data held by Google for advertising, use the controls above or Google's own tools. For contact form data, email us using the address in section 13.
8. Your Rights in California (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information is collected, used, and disclosed
- Delete personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights
We do not sell personal information for money. However, advertising cookies set by Google and its partners may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. To opt out, use Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info, block third-party cookies in your browser, or enable Global Privacy Control. To make a request about other information, contact us using section 13.
9. Data Retention
We keep contact form messages only as long as needed to respond and follow up, then delete them. Advertising data is retained by Google and its partners under their own policies.
10. Data Security
Calculator operations run locally in your browser, so your expressions never leave your device. The website and contact form use encrypted HTTPS connections. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect data we receive.
11. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
13. Contact
